Research area

Se-Hyeong's research area is to develop a new class of reconfigurable multi-material active colloids with variable morphologies and adaptive capabilities. The main focus of his work is to control the responsiveness of soft polymer networks chemically that compose reconfigurable microswimmers.

Se-Hyeong Jung studied chemistry at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and obtained his bachelor's degree in 2013. After two years of mandatory military service in South Korea, he came back to Germany in 2015 and started his master's study at the RWTH Aachen University. In 2017 he finished his study and obtained his master's degree in Chemistry from the University. From 2018 to 2022, he was working as a Ph.D. student in the research group of Andrij Pich at the DWI – Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials and the RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Since December 2022, he is working on active materials as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Lucio Isa at the Material Institute of ETH Zürich, Switzerland.
